GMAS Relationships with Other Systems

There are currently eight other systems that GMAS connects with to provide and receive information related to sponsored research.

  • Harvard Data Warehouse (HDW): Data from GMAS is extracted and sent to the Harvard Data Warehouse. This allows for reporting through CREW, OBI, and other means of reporting. The HDW also sends Tub, ORG, Object code and Root information, all transactions from the HDW, and salary data to GMAS.
  • Oracle: GMAS sends new accounts, account modifications, and accounts ready for disabling to Oracle. This allows accounts to be added, modified, and disabled at the GL. Oracle in return sends an update to those accounts back to GMAS so that GMAS reflects the same account status as the GL. In addition, GMAS also sends Non-Federal Exchange interest information and account overhead rates to Oracle.
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM): The Identity & Access Management system sends new HUIDs, and modifications to HUIDs to GMAS. Some of the HUID information includes jobs, addresses, and preferred email information.
  • Grants.gov: GMAS sends and receives information with Grants.gov to retrieve opportunity number information and package forms information, and also to submit proposals directly from GMAS to Grants.gov. Grants.gov also sends tracking number and submission status information to GMAS.
  • HU Email: Emails are sent directly into GMAS through HU email when the email owner includes gmasdoc@camail.harvard.edu in the To, CC’, or BCC’ line.
  • Effort Reporting Certification Technology (ECRT): GMAS sends project, department, account, and sponsor information to ECRT for effort reporting certification purposes.
  • Financial Conflict of Interest (fCOI): GMAS sends HUID and an identifier as to whether or not the HUID is associated to any PHS projects to fCOI. fCOI sends status information for the fCOI approval back to GMAS.
  • Outside Activities Report (OAR): GMAS sends HUID and project information to OAR. OAR sends status information for the OAR approval back to GMAS.
