How to Change a Preferred Email Address in GMAS

Preferred Email addresses are used to determine the address to which GMAS notifications are distributed and where Emails sent to gmasdoc@camail.harvard.edu end up.

The preferred address is determined by local HR offices. To make the change, HR updates the Email in the Identity Management System (IDM). The information from IDM is transferred to PeopleSoft, and then PeopleSoft sends the updated preferred email address to GMAS.  This process, from the time HR makes the change to the time the change is reflected in GMAS, will take about two to three days (depending on the time of day and day of the week the change is made).

For more information on how the IDM interface interacts with GMAS, or how any other interfaces interact with GMAS, see the GMAS interfaces documentation.
